This small bat has dark, curly, woolly fur. It is known from only 7 African localities, and it is thought to fly through cluttered vegetation.
Its dense, woolly fur is dark brown to chocolate brown. Rusty or pale brown tips can give it a golden sheen or a singed look depending on the viewing angle. Its eyes are minute, and its ears are funnel-shaped.
Its broad wings support highly manoeuvrable flight, and it can hover briefly. Leaf roosting and feeding on small arthropods are considered possible or likely, but its diet has not been confirmed.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
