The short-eared brushtail possum is a nocturnal marsupial of moist forests in southeastern Australia. By day it shelters in tree hollows or fallen logs.
It has a stocky body, short rounded ears, dark gray back fur and a black bushy tail. The belly and throat are often white, cream or pale gray, although some individuals are all black.
At night it forages in trees or on the ground, eating leaves, buds, flowers, fruit, fungi and lichens. It usually rests alone by day in tree hollows or fallen logs.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
