The paradox shrew has a very long tail that is sometimes white-tipped. Specimens have been documented at three mountain sites on Sumatra.
The 2024 study describes its tail as exceptionally long compared with related shrews and often white-tipped.
Researchers recorded it during 2011 and 2018 mountain surveys, where it was caught on the same pitfall lines as other shrews. The paper does not give detailed diet or activity times.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
