An eagle with a feather crest, found in Japan on Ishigaki and Iriomote islands.
Adults of the Yaeyama form are brown with white spots, and have yellow skin around the eyes and yellow legs.
In Yaeyama it waits near woodland, wetlands and grassland to catch snakes, frogs and crabs.
