This small rodent is recorded in central Argentina. It has a grayish-brown back, conspicuous white patches behind the ears, and a sharply separated white underside. At its type locality it was collected in low thorn scrub bordering saline flats.
Its back is grayish brown, with conspicuous white patches behind the ears. The underside is white and clearly set off from the back; the tail is brown above and paler below, with a short hair pencil at the tip.
At the type locality in San Luis Province, specimens were taken in low thorn scrub on sandy terraces beside saline flats. This is a record from that locality, not a range-wide habitat preference.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
