The Madagascan flying fox is a large fruit bat found only on Madagascar. It mainly takes juice from fruit and spits out the dry pulp and seeds, helping disperse seeds.
It is Madagascar's largest bat, with a long pointed nose and ears, large eyes, and no obvious external tail. The back is yellowish brown, the underside dark brown, and the fur around the neck yellowish to reddish brown.
It chews fruit and mainly swallows the juice, then spits out dry pulp and seeds as pellets. It also eats pollen and leaves. Roost sites are often in coastal lowlands along Madagascar's eastern littoral forest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
