The Short-billed Pipit searches short grass and dry grassland. It has a mottled brown back and dark breast streaks, and has been recorded in several parts of Argentina.
It is about 14 cm long, with a mottled brown back, dark streaks, a pale underside, and white outer tail feathers. Strong dark streaks cross the breast.
Adults eat insects and hide a shallow grass nest with its rim level with the ground. A study at one Patagonian site recorded display flights and a nest with young in November.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
