The Dark Hawk-Cuckoo is a large, long-tailed cuckoo with a hawk-like shape, found in montane and foothill forests of Borneo.
Adults have a dark gray back, rufous chest, and barred white belly. Juveniles have a streaked throat and browner upperparts.
It perches deep in tall trees and repeatedly gives a piercing song.
It eats insects, including caterpillars, and berries.
On 27 June 2023 at Fraser’s Hill on the Malay Peninsula, a perched juvenile received food from a Chestnut-capped Laughingthrush.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
