The Rusty-belted Tapaculo is a South American bird with a rusty back and breast band. It walks on the forest floor in search of small insects.
The head and neck are gray, with a narrow pale eyebrow and a white spot by the ear. The back, wings, and rump are rusty brown; a rusty band crosses the white throat and chest, and the flanks are barred.
It walks alone on the ground in terra firme and floodplain forest. It searches dense vegetation and treefall gaps for small insects.
It builds a globular nest of moss and small twigs on the ground at the base of a root or trunk.
The wings have two dark bars dotted with buff, and the tail is grey-brown.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
