A thrush recorded on islands of eastern Indonesia. A survey on Peleng found birds in hill forest and also documented fledglings.
The head and underparts are black, while the back and wings are chestnut-red. An oval white patch sits behind the eye; the bill is slate-colored and the legs are pink.
A 2014 survey on Peleng caught five birds at 800–1,100 m and described them as very shy and rarely vocal. Fledglings were also recorded at a site around 700 m.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
