This small warbler lives in reedbeds and grassy vegetation near water in Africa and feeds on insects. Sources differ on whether baeticatus is treated as a separate African Reed Warbler species or as a subspecies of Common Reed Warbler.
The baeticatus form is described with brown upperparts tinged rusty, paler underparts, a whitish throat and a slender bill.
It forages among reeds and sedges near water, gleaning insects from leaves and branches or catching them in flight.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
