This babbler was rediscovered in limestone hill forest in South Kalimantan. Observations there found it moving near the ground and eating insects and other small invertebrates. Information on its range and life remains limited.
One bird temporarily captured at Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, in 2020 had a stout body, relatively short tail, and robust bill with a hooked tip. Its upperparts were earthy brown and its underside grey. Its sex was not determined.
At the Kotabaru study area, birds were observed alone or in pairs and foraged by hopping near the ground and on the forest floor. Identified prey included aphids, snails, and cockroaches.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
