The Solomons Frogmouth is a nocturnal forest bird of the Solomon Islands. It has fewer tail feathers than other frogmouths and conspicuous white spots on the breast and belly.
It has eight tail feathers, compared with the 10–12 typical of other frogmouths. Its primary wing and tail feathers are barred, and its breast and belly spots are more pronounced.
It is active at night and lives in forest trees.
A Bougainville nest on 24 August 1964 was a shallow stick platform in a horizontal branch fork about 25 m high, with one nearly fledged chick.
At Tirotonga on Isabel, calls include short rising whistles repeated irregularly and a rapidly repeated series of descending whistles.
