The central Australian rock rat lives among rocky sites in central Australia. Records describe a thick tail and a diet based mainly on seeds.
The back is yellow-brown and the underside cream to white. Its tail thickens toward the tip like a carrot, and the nose is rounded and prominent.
Seeds are its main food. Scat analysis also found leaves, ferns, and insects, while the recovery plan notes that much of its life history remains unknown.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
