This rodent is recorded in coastal restinga in southeastern Brazil. Its back is orange-brown, its head grey, and its tail is bicolored. The original habitat study recorded it most often in low shrub patches and also caught it on branches.
The short back fur is orange, grizzled with brown; the head is grey, the belly whitish, and the tail is dark above and white below.
Within coastal sandy restinga, it was associated more with low shrub patches than with more forested vegetation. Captures on the ground and on branches led the authors to suggest some degree of arboreality.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
