This tanager occurs in humid lowland forest in Colombia and northern Ecuador. Males are red and white, while females replace the red areas with brown; birds gather in canopy flocks.
Males are largely scarlet with white flanks. Females have a similar pattern, but brown replaces the male’s scarlet areas.
It uses the canopy of humid lowland forest and forest edges, joining small or mixed-species flocks and feeding on fruit and arthropods.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
