This small bat has been recorded on the southeastern coast of Papua New Guinea and Samari Island. In a 1996 Lakekamu Basin survey, one individual was caught at its roost in a tree 7 m above the ground.
It is small and delicate, with rounded ear tips. In the dried, alcohol-preserved specimens described in 1986, the back hairs were black over their basal two-thirds and brown at the tips. Hairs underneath had black bases and pale pinkish-buff tips.
During the 1996 Lakekamu Basin survey near Ivimka Research Station, one individual was caught at its roosting position in a tree 7 m above the ground.
