The Marquesan Ground Dove is a ground-dwelling pigeon with a gray head and breast and a reddish-purple back. It turns through leaf litter as it searches for seeds and ants.
Adults have gray heads, necks, and breasts, with reddish-purple feathers on the back and hindneck. White patches on the wings and white at the base of the tail show clearly in flight.
It forages almost entirely on the ground, turning dead leaves or digging in soil with its bill to find seeds and ants. Field knowledge of its diet and breeding remains limited.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
