The Marsh Tchagra is a small bird of wetland grass and shrubs in sub-Saharan Africa. Males have a black cap and chestnut back.
It is about 15–19 cm long, with a long tail and strong, hooked bill. Adult males have a black cap, chestnut back and wings, and creamy-buff underparts. Females are similar but have a white supercilium.
It lives in tall grass, sedges, and shrubs around wetlands. It searches dense cover near the ground for large insects and sometimes catches insects in flight. Its nest is placed low in a bush; one to three eggs are reported.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
