This bat is recorded in Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, and the Guianas. In Pará, Brazil, a female was captured at a tree cavity used as a day roost.
The fur on its back grades from dark grey-brown bases to paler brown or brownish-orange tips. Its underside is slightly paler, and fur extends onto both surfaces of the membrane between the hind legs. The wings attach near the bases of the toes.
In Marabá, Pará, Brazil, one lactating female was captured at the exit of its daytime roost, a tree cavity about 1.8 m above ground. The capture area was alluvial dense rainforest with medium and large trees, palms, woody vines, and epiphytes.
