This shrew is recorded on Mindoro Island in the Philippines. An early description says the young-adult specimen collected on a mountain summit was larger than related species.
The type specimen measured 91 mm from head to body and 72 mm in tail length. Its back had a blackish suffusion, which the author considered less evident than in Crocidura halconus.
Adult vouchers of this species were included in a study of shrew diversification and co-occurrence on Mindoro. That study does not describe its diet or daily activity.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
