At about 7.5 cm, it is tiny. It has cinnamon-buff around the eye, a grey head and neck, a black ear patch, and patterned underparts.
It inhabits Atlantic rainforest, edges and clearings and feeds almost entirely on insects. In a study of five nests in south-eastern Brazil, females incubated while both parents fed the nestlings.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
