This cuckoo lives in jungle and second growth on New Georgia in the Solomon Islands. A 1951 field account records its characteristic call from dense low cover.
Two molting males collected on New Georgia were recorded with dark reddish-brown irises, a black upper mandible, a horn-colored lower mandible, and light yellow-orange feet. Their eyelids and circumocular skin were lemon yellow. These are soft-part colors of two examined males, not a description of plumage.
The observer located birds by their characteristic three-syllable call in jungle and dense second growth. One bird was found perched about 30 cm above the ground in a low thicket.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
