This small sunbird lives in highland forests, where it uses flower nectar and dense woodland cover.
It is about 12–13 cm long.
It is active by day and mainly uses nectar as food. Records place it in montane forest and dense woodland at about 1,200–2,100 m.
In May–July 2018 at a farm near Bokwango, Cameroon, at 940 m, it visited cultivated Etlingera elatior and E. hemisphaerica to drink nectar.
At the Cameroonian farm, pollen was placed on its head as it perched to drink nectar from Heliconia rostrata flowers.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
