The Western Woermann's Fruit Bat is known from a small number of sites in Côte d'Ivoire and Liberia. Specimens come from lowland forest, and details of its range remain uncertain.
The fur is dark overall, with slightly paler underparts. Adult males have a long white to cream-colored band of hair from the sides of the neck across the throat.
Specimens were collected in secondary lowland rainforest at Lamto Reserve and primary lowland rainforest at Azagny National Park in Côte d'Ivoire. These are locality records, not a complete description of habitat use.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
