The Bogota Rail lives in high-elevation wetlands of the eastern Colombian Andes, often among dense reeds and other wetland plants.
Its back is dark brown, while the head and chest are slate gray. White bars mark the sides of the belly, and the long bill is reddish yellow.
It is most active around dawn and dusk, searching among reeds, mud, and floating vegetation for aquatic insects and mollusks. When alarmed, it may flick its tail and hide in thick cover.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
