The desert pocket gopher is a rodent that digs underground burrows in sandy soils. It carries food in cheek pouches and feeds on plants below ground.
Its back is brownish and its underside pale. The tail is nearly hairless, the forefeet are built for digging, and cheek pouches carry food.
It lives alone in underground burrows, eats roots and other plant material, and stores food in its burrow.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
