The Black Harrier is a southern African harrier that hunts small mammals and birds while flying low over the ground.
Adults are mostly black, with a white rump and boldly banded black-and-white tail that stand out in flight. The eyes, cere, legs, and feet are yellow.
It hunts low over grasses and shrubs, mainly taking rodents and small birds. Some individuals move after breeding, while others remain in core areas.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
