This mouse was recorded in Tanoé-Ehy Swamp Forest in southeastern Côte d'Ivoire. The survey found a stronger association with dry forest plots, but also recorded it in swamp forest and other habitat types.
A paper describing African rodents that wade through shallow water includes this species among them. It notes elongated hind feet and muzzle vibrissae as traits used to search for food in shallow water.
The survey captured it in all three habitat types studied: dry forest, swamp forest, and raffia forest. Its association was strongest with dry forest, although the authors said more data are needed to establish habitat preference.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
