This small mammal probes leaf litter with its long snout and eats insects. Its reddish and black fur and white eye-rings are striking.
It has a long head and snout, rounded ears, a thin tail and a compact body. Reddish fur covers the head and chest, the hindquarters are black, and a white ring surrounds each dark eye.
It is active by day, using its flexible snout to turn leaf litter and its long tongue to scoop up beetles, centipedes and ants. At night it rests in a nest of leaves and twigs.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
