This is a small rat recorded in surveys of New Guinea's highlands. The Kai-ingri animals discussed here were tentatively identified as Rattus niobe, a name with unresolved taxonomic complexity.
Adults captured at Kai-ingri weighed 39–52 g.
At night, animals were trapped in forest and adjacent grassland, mostly under logs, brush, fallen trees, and dense vegetation; some were caught on branches up to about a meter above the ground.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
