The back has long, soft grayish-brown fur, and the underside is grayish buff. Only one specimen is known; it was collected in Azuay Province, Ecuador, near the upper forest edge in a landscape of grassy meadows and brushy slopes.
The fur is long and soft, grayish brown on the back and grayish buff underneath. Voss described the type specimen's bony snout as flaring forward beyond the incisors into a tube-like shape.
The type specimen was collected near the upper limit of forest. The surrounding landscape was described as rolling grassy meadows with scattered scrub on ridges and brush thickets on slopes. Because only one specimen is known, this does not establish the species' general habitat preference.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
