This small parrot occurs widely across northern South America. Wing colors differ by sex and subspecies, and birds feed in flocks outside the breeding season.
Adult males of the nominate subspecies have blue and violet feathers on the wings; females have green markings in those areas.
Outside the breeding season, birds gather at communal roosts and feeding areas. Their wild diet includes grass seeds, berries, fruits, and flowers.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
