This medium-sized bat was described from the Atlantic Forest of southern and southeastern Brazil. The original description reports captures in forest and at forest edges.
Fur ranges from reddish brown to red, with brown-based, red-tipped dorsal hairs. The underside is paler, and the bare muzzle, ears, and membranes are black.
The original captures ran from 6:30 p.m. to 5:40 a.m., using nets in primary forest, regenerating forest, and forest edges. The authors describe an insectivorous diet as probable.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
