The Black-collared Bulbul has a dark band that forms a collar and lives in pairs in tall grassland with scattered trees.
The crown and shoulders are gray, the back and wings olive, and a broad black stripe runs through the eyes and joins beneath the neck as a collar across the pale underparts.
It lives in tall grassland with scattered shrubs and trees, usually as a pair or in a small family-like group of up to about four. It mainly eats insects but also takes some fruit.
The eyes are dark, and the bill and legs are black.
The underwing is very pale yellow, appearing as a thin yellow line when the wing is folded.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
