A yellow weaver that nests among reeds near water. Males and females differ in eye and bill color, and it eats seeds, insects, and nectar.
The male is golden yellow, with red eyes and a horn-colored bill. The female has brown eyes and a pink bill.
It searches on the ground and in vegetation for seeds, insects, and nectar, and sometimes catches flying termite alates. During breeding, the male weaves several round nests from grass on reed stems, and the female lines them with softer grass.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
