The Rarotonga Monarch’s native range is Rarotonga in the Cook Islands. Its plumage changes with age; it uses wet forested valleys near stream headwaters and feeds on small insects.
Plumage changes with age: first-year birds are orange; second-year birds remain orange with a blue-toned bill; third-year birds mix gray and orange; by the fourth year the plumage is gray and white.
It prefers steep-sided, wet forested valleys sheltered from southeast trade winds near stream headwaters. Its main foods include small caterpillars, flies, beetles, and bugs.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
