This rat is recorded along the Nile in Egypt. Groups use shared burrows and keep grassy runways clear around them.
It has a stout body, rounded head, and large round ears covered in short fine fur. The underside coat is shorter and paler than the back.
Groups live in underground burrows and extend cleared runways from entrances. During the dry season, they clip grasses and maintain these paths.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
