This vole is recorded in western Armenia and central Georgia. A 1995 Russian reference placed it in the subgenus Sumeriomys and described two subspecies with separate ranges.
The back is dark gray-brown. The belly varies from light to dark gray with a yellowish tinge, and the tail is bicolored.
The 1995 account places it in xerophytic steppe and meadow-steppe at 1,400–1,700 m, as well as in nearby grain fields, other crop plantings, gardens, and vegetable plots.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
