This shrew is known only from Narcondam Island in the Bay of Bengal. The description study collected two individuals at the same site in 2020.
The two described specimens had dense dark-gray dorsal fur and a thick, darker tail. Their head-body lengths were 63–67 mm and their tails about 56–59 mm.
The authors describe the shrew as secretive and report capturing two animals in pitfall traps. The site was a plantation and coastal littoral forest. Detailed diet and daily behavior have not yet been documented.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
