This small dolphin lives along the southwestern Atlantic coast from southeastern Brazil through Uruguay to Argentina. It uses shallow, turbid coastal water and estuaries, feeding on small fish, squid, and crustaceans.
Adults have a long, narrow beak, small eyes, and broad paddle-shaped flippers. The back is ocher or brownish and gradually pales along the flanks and underside.
In shallow coastal waters and estuaries it takes small fish, cephalopods, and crustaceans. Bottom-dwelling fish are commonly recorded, but diet varies among populations.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
