This rodent is known from ericaceous scrub in the Ethiopian highlands. Few individuals have been recorded, so details of its behavior and diet remain limited.
It resembles Dendromus but is larger and has a relatively shorter tail. A 2013 study recorded a dark stripe down the back of one captured female, from behind the ears toward the tail base.
Known captures are concentrated in ericaceous scrub at 3000–3800 m. One captive animal moved in short jumps, leading researchers to suggest it may be terrestrial, but its wild behavior and diet remain largely unknown.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
