Andean Chilomys is a mouse reported from the Andes. Three specimens from Cajamarca, northern Peru, were assigned to this species, although the authors noted that its taxonomy may need review.
In the specimens studied, a long nasal bone and a long upper tooth row were among the skull traits used to identify the species.
Three specimens from Cajamarca were collected in montane forest at 3,140 m. The paper gives little detail about the species’ diet or social behavior.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
