This vole occurs in the border region of Sichuan and Gansu, China. A 2024 study reported genetic data from one specimen collected in Gansu.
The study specimen had gray-brown fur on the back and grayish-white fur underneath. Its medium-length tail was gray-brown above and dull white below, and its incisors had clear grooves.
