This flycatcher is endemic to Buru. Recent accounts use the combination Eumyias additus.
The original description calls the upperparts fairly uniform brown, the tail darker rufous-brown, and the breast lighter.
It is recorded in moist lowland to montane forest and forest edge; the account describes insect feeding and aerial sallying at 900–1,500 m.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
