This small tyrant flycatcher moves in short flights through reeds and searches low vegetation for food. The Argentine national account records it from the north of the country south to Chubut.
It is about 12 cm long, with a small crest, olive-brown back, yellow underparts, and two pale wing bars. The forehead and crown are reddish brown.
It is usually alone and hides among reeds or other streamside plants. It sometimes sings from a reed or shrub, makes short flights between plants, and gathers food low in the vegetation. The SIB account considers an insect diet probable.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
