This small tyrant flycatcher is known from a restricted mountain area in northeastern Venezuela. Its field identification and ecology remain poorly documented.
In two birds observed in July 2005, the crown looked gray in shade and pale olive like the back in sunlight. The underparts were pale yellow, with prominent yellowish wingbars and a flesh-colored bill with a dark tip.
During a short 2005 survey, two birds foraged about 4–6 m above ground in the midstory at a forest edge, searching dead and live foliage and branches for insects. They joined mixed-species flocks in places with open understory beside shade coffee.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
