The Lesser Coucal has black plumage and chestnut wings and may be seen basking among grassland shrubs. The observations and range shown here are from its native population in Singapore.
It has black plumage and chestnut wings, with heavy streaking on the head, wings, and back. Unlike the Greater Coucal, its eye is not red.
It uses grassland with tall grass and may bask on shrubs early in the morning or after heavy rain. The Singapore guide also describes its repeated “ko-kok” call.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
