The Bismarck Fantail lives in mountain forest in the Bismarck Archipelago. Its white eyebrow and cheek stripe, grey-brown head, and rufous-brown back help identify it.
It is about 13–14.5 cm long, with a white eyebrow and moustachial streak, greyish-brown crown and head sides, and a rufous-brown mantle.
It lives in upper montane forest, generally above 750 m, and eats insects. The source lists two subspecies in the mountain ranges of New Britain and New Ireland in the Bismarck Archipelago.
