The Ethiopian arvicanthis lives in grasslands of the Ethiopian Highlands. It is active on the ground by day and is thought to feed mainly on plants.
Its coarse coat is dark brown to black, flecked with cream streaks; the underside is grayish brown.
It is terrestrial and active by day; the handbook describes a mainly plant-based diet as presumed.
